Toma's first priority is the safety of the people who work through it, so nobody is taken on trust. This page says what Toma does today to protect talent, and what to do if something feels wrong.
how toma keeps talent safe
[Safety at Toma]
Everyone who joins Toma, talent and companies alike, is reviewed by a person at Toma. Signing up does not put anyone on this site or let them contact anyone.
The reviewer approves, asks for changes, or turns the application down, and can later suspend an approved account. Each decision records who made it and when, and turning someone down also records why.
A person at Toma who invited someone to join does not review them. Any exception has to be justified in writing, and the reason is kept.
On Toma, a client is always a company, never a private person, and it is reviewed as a business.
Before a reviewer approves it, the company gives its details, a registration document, its website, and its business address, and says who is signing up on its behalf.
That person normally confirms an email address on the company's own website domain, from a link we send to it, which shows they belong to the company.
Nobody under 16 can apply to Toma as talent.
An application from someone under 18 cannot be sent until their parent or legal guardian confirms their consent, from a link we email to the guardian's own address. A person at Toma then speaks with the guardian before approving it.
Until the talent turns 18, we send emails about their application to their guardian. Signing up does not put them on this site.
These checks make Toma harder to misuse, but no system removes every risk. Use your own judgement as well, and tell us whenever something does not seem right.
Trust your instincts. You never have to agree to something that makes you uncomfortable, and you can always stop and ask us first.
Keep the messages and note what happened and when, so we can look into it.
If you are in immediate danger, contact the local police first.
Write to us through the contact form and choose "General inquiry", or email hello@tomaagency.com.
A message sent through the contact form is saved before anyone is told about it, and you receive an email with a reference number to quote if you write again. A person at Toma reads it and replies within five business days. If nobody has replied after three business days, staff are reminded, and after five it is raised with Toma's most senior staff.
